Man avoids jail after cops find cannabis worth £8,500 in his Wishaw home
A man has avoided prison after police found cannabis worth £8,500 in his Wishaw home.
Messages on Andrew McLeary's phone pointed to him being involved in the sale of drugs, Hamilton Sheriff Court was told.
McLeary, 53, of Kirkhill Road, Netherton, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis between March 26 and April 10 last year.
Aislin O'Donnell, prosecuting, said he was sitting in the driver's seat of a car outside his home about 11.30am when police officers approached to speak to him.
She stated: "The officers could smell cannabis and detained the accused for a search.
"He told them there were things in his home address. A search warrant was granted and a bag of cannabis was recovered from the property as well as a mobile phone.
"Examination of the phone revealed messages indicative of the onward sale of cannabis. These dated back to March 26."
McLeary was placed under supervision for a year and must do 180 hours of unpaid community work.
