Man Braves Hurricane Ida Flood to Deliver Coffee to Neighbor

Even a hurricane can’t stop neighborly acts of kindness.

A New Orleans man ventured across his flooded street on the morning of August 30 to give his neighbor some coffee in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

Penny Pounds recorded the heartwarming moment. Her husband Paul waded across their flooded street, as the water reached past his hips. She noted that with the construction that had been going on on their street, he had to be cautious.

Pounds and her husband were lucky enough to have power, she said, so they cared for their neighbors who weren’t as fortunate. Over a million outages remained across Louisiana by August 31, according to the PowerOutage.US monitoring site. Credit: Penny Pounds via Storyful
