Using the Too Good To Go app is a great way to save money on food.

If you weren't already aware, the application allows users to make purchases from some of their favourite chain outlets at a fraction of a price. The only caveat is they won't know what goodies are inside until after they've bought them.

For as little as £3, they get items that are likely to be expiring soon. Cafes, restaurants and supermarkets pack the bundles to prevent the food from going to waste.

But as it's a mystery what you'll receive, it can be a bit of a punt purchasing them. In our opinion though, this makes getting a great box feel even more brilliant.

And that was definitely the case for one Starbucks customer, who bought £3 Too Good To Go bags from the popular chain. He ended up hitting the jackpot with what was inside.

Taking to Facebook, Alister James McRoberts showed off the contents of his two bags from his local cafe in Elgin, Scotland. For a grand total of £5.90, the man received seven bags filled with goodies including plain an almond croissants, chocolate twists, a cinnamon bun, and a Halloween-themed cake pop.

But what is more impressive, Alister was also given a whopping 35 slices of chocolate and caramel shortbread - which cost around £3.15 per portion. This means in shortbread alone, he bagged a whopping £115 worth of food.

"35 slices of caramel shortbread, just as well we are visiting family tomorrow," he wrote in the now viral post. "Get the kettle on."

More than 100 viewers flocked to the comments section to gush about the "incredible" bargains. "Enjoy, they look amazing," one user raved. Another agreed, commenting: "I can't express how jealous I am." A third added: "Looks yummy," while a fourth penned: "What a bloody bargain."
