Man charged with attempted murder after car 'deliberately driven' at pair in Walsall

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a car was allegedly deliberately driven at two people on a Walsall street. A woman suffered life-changing injuries during the incident.

Police said the incident happened on Acacia Avenue, Walsall, on Sunday, September 15. Callum Cartwright, 26, has now been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday, September 17). He was later remanded into custody.

Police said in a statement: "We have charged a man with attempted murder after a man and woman were allegedly deliberately driven at in Walsall. We arrested a 26-year-old man on Sunday (15 Sep) night following an incident in Acacia Avenue, Walsall, earlier that day.

"The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries believed to be life-changing. The man was thankfully not injured.

"Callum Cartwright has now been charged with two counts of attempted murder. The 26-year-old was remanded in custody and is appearing before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Tuesday)."
