Man charged with attempted murder in stabbing

COFFEE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — A Chancellor man is behind bars in Coffee County after a local sheriff said he tried to stab someone to death.

On Tuesday, January 30, Coffee County Deputies were dispatched to the 4000 block of County Road 651 on reports of a possible assault.

According to Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd, deputies were informed the unidentified victim had received a stab wound to the abdomen, and someone in a personal vehicle transported them to Medical Center Enterprise for treatment.

Sheriff Byrd says that after an investigation, officers arrested 60-year-old Michael Dewayne Prine and charged him with attempted murder for stabbing the victim.

The current condition of the victim is unknown.

Prine was booked into the Coffee County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
