Man charged after police find a machete and handgun following search warrant

A man has been charged after police found weapons and drugs at an address in Rawtenstall.

Police executed a firearms warrant at an address on Haslingden Old Road on Sunday (January 29th).

During the property search officers found a machete, shotgun cartridges, a blank-firing handgun and blank rounds, other prohibited ammunition, cannabis and around £2,000 in cash.

On Monday (January 30) Yousuf Khan, 31, of Haslingden Old Road, Rawtenstall was charged with possession of ammunition without a certificate, acquiring or possessing criminal property and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

He was due to appear at Burnley Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday, January 31).

Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch with police.

A police spokesperson: “A man has been charged after police executed a firearms warrant at an address in Rossendale on Sunday (January 29).

“An address on Haslingden Old Road was searched, during which officers located a machete, shotgun cartridges, a blank-firing handgun and blank rounds, other prohibited ammunition, cannabis and around £2,000 in cash.

“A man was arrested at the address.

“Last night Yousuf Khan, 31, of Haslingden Old Road, Rawtenstall was charged with possession of ammunition without a certificate, acquiring or possessing criminal property and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

“He was due to appear at Burnley Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday, January 31).

“We rely on our communities to share information with us and urge anybody with information about suspicious activity in their area to call us on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
