Man charged with sexual assault of two teenage girls in Prestwick

A man has been charged in connection with reports of two teenage girls being sexually assaulted in Prestwick on Saturday night.

Police were called to reports of two girls, aged 13 and 14, having been assaulted and sexually assaulted on Prestwick Road at around 7.30pm on November 16.

A 35-year-old woman was also assaulted in the course of the incident.

A 68-year-old man was arrested and has since been charged and released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.30pm on Saturday, 16 November, 2024, officers received a report of two girls, aged 13 and 14, having been assaulted and sexually assaulted in Prestwick Road, Ayr.

"A 35-year-old woman was also assaulted during the incident.

"Officers attended and a 68-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection.

"He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date."

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
