Erling Haaland has been urged to depart Manchester City for Real Madrid as the Premier League side's hearing into alleged financial breaches continues.

The champions are currently on day three of their hearing into 115 alleged breaches of the league's financial rules between 2009 and 2018. While the club vehemently deny all charges, the punishment could be unlimited if they are found guilty - ranging from points deductions to hefty fines, or even being expelled altogether.

However, on the field it has remained business as usual for City, who top the table after an impeccable start with four wins in four matches. Haaland's current form has been a great asset to this perfect beginning, as he already has nine goals this season.

Although Haaland's contract at Etihad is set until 2027, this has not deterred Real Madrid icon Guti from publicly encouraging his former club to pursue the prolific scorer.

"I would bring Haaland to Real Madrid," Guti said on Monday. "He's been outstanding for a few years now and I just hope he's Florentino's [Pérez] next target. It would be very good for our football." This is not the first time Guti has advocated for Haaland's move to Madrid, as he previously told the club to snatch up Haaland before his transfer from Dortmund to City.

Speaking in May 2022, the ex-Madrid star warned that if his former club didn't seize the opportunity to sign the young striker then they may "never will".

At the time, Guti said: "Vinicius, Benzema, Haaland, and Mbappe can play together. If you can have Haaland and Mbappe at Real Madrid, it’s a leap in quality. There is no need to doubt. Real Madrid must do everything they can to sign both Mbappe and Haaland. If they don’t sign Haaland now, they never will."

Two years later, Mbappe has made the switch on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, while Haaland continues to thrive in Manchester. Despite committing his future to City until 2027, he has proeviously spoken about what the future mat hold for him.

In May, Haaland himself said: "I'm really happy, especially with the people that I'm surrounded with the manager, the directors, the board, they are a group of amazing people and I'm really happy, I have to say.

"If I say this now it's probably going to be a massive headline tomorrow you never know what the future brings. But I'm happy. You can write this but you also have to write everything I said before! I'm happy."
