Man City vs Lyon, Champions League preview: Prediction, team news, TV channel, time, live stream, h2h, odds

·2-min read

Manchester City will be wary of a potential banana skin when they take on Lyon in a unique Champions League quarter-final tonight.

The latter stages of the finals tournament in Lisbon, originally put on hold in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, have featured one-legged ties from the last eight onwards with all games taking place across two stadiums in Lisbon.

According to Kyle Walker, Man City believe there may be no better chance to win the competition, and will be aware that Lyon avoided defeat over two games against Pep Guardiola's side last season - as well as knocking out Juventus in the last-16.

But the winners of this game will face a Bayern Munich side who humiliated Barcelona with an 8-2 quarter-final victory to lay down a marker for the tournament.

Date, time and venue

Man City vs Lyon is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off tonight.

The match will be played behind closed doors at Estadio Jose Alvalade with no fans due to be present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

How to watch

TV channel: The match will be televised live on BT Sport 1, with coverage starting from 7pm.

Live stream: BT Sport subscribers will be able to stream the match online via the video player and the BT Sport app.

Team news

Sergio Aguero is expected to again miss out after travelling to Barcelona to continue rehabilitation after undergoing an operation on his meniscus.

He has been included in City’s squad for the latter stages of the competition so can be called upon should he be fit.

Benjamin Mendy is available after serving a suspension for yellow cards against Real Madrid.

For Lyon, Marcelo and Kenny Tete will be assessed, but Youssouf Kone is out.

Prediction: Man City 3-1 Lyon

Lyon pulled off a big shock to knock out Juventus, but this Manchester City team look at full steam after little gap between the end of their domestic campaign.

Should be fairly straightforward for Guardiola's side.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Manchester City and Lyon have met twice before, coming in last season's Champions League group stage.

Lyon held out for a 2-2 draw at home before winning at the Etihad Stadium a few weeks later.
