Man City XI vs Southampton: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League today

Pep Guardiola is at loggerheads with Manchester City supporters after the manager publicly criticised the lack of supporters in the ground for the club’s 6-3 victory over RB Leipzig in midweek.

As such, the Spaniard might be tempted to to put on a show and fill his starting XI with some household favourites.

Kevin de Bruyne is made to wait for his first Premier League start of the season as Manchester City welcome Southampton to the Etihad this weekend.

The Belgian came through his first start of the campaign against Leipzig on Wednesday, with Phil Foden coming off the bench on his own return from injury, but both are again among the substitutes.

Kyle Walker was rested in that game and returns at right-back, meaning Joao Cancelo will shuffle to left-back.

Both John Stones and Aymeric Laporte missed the Leipzig clash and neither are fit to return so Nathan Ake - who scored against the Germans - will continue alongside Ruben Dias in the centre of defence.

Gabriel Jesus’ excellent Premier League form sees him recalled to the starting XI, and Raheem Sterling also comes into the attack alongside Jack Grealish, with Ferran Torres dropping to the bench.
