Man Convicted After Shooting at Police During Somerset 'Rampage'

A 32-year-old man was convicted by a jury on November 6 of using a firearm to endanger the lives of police officers during a series of shooting incidents in Castle Cary, described in court as a “rampage”.

The police were fired upon on January 23, after Daniel Hannam had shot twice at a shop door during an attempted burglary. He then tried to kidnap a man after getting into his car while armed with a shotgun. The shotgun was illegally held, police said.
