A man is in a "critical" condition in hospital after being found unresponsive in the early hours of the morning in a town centre. Police were called just after 2.30am on Wednesday, July 10, to a report of a man having been found unconscious and unresponsive on Duke Street, Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene and the man was transported to hospital where his condition is described as critical, South Wales Police said. The force is now appealing for witnesses and footage of the incident.

Detectives Inspector James Morris said: “We are actively investigating the circumstances and keeping an open mind about what may have happened. We need to hear from anyone who was in the area last night or the early hours of this morning and may have seen what happened. We’d also to speak to anyone who may have driven past the area and has dash cam footage, or nearby householders who may have doorbell camera recordings."
