A man is fighting for his life after being shot with a crossbow in west London, Scotland Yard has said.
Police were called to the Uxbridge area just after 8pm on Monday evening following reports that a man had been shot in the stomach.
Officers who arrived at the scene found a 33-year-old man who was suffering from an abdominal injury that had been caused by a crossbow bolt.
The man was rushed to a west London hospital where medics described his condition as life threatening.
The Metropolitan Police said there had been no arrests and enquiries were continuing.
The incident took place close to a row of shops at the junction of Copperfield Avenue and Pield Heath Road and police are appealing for witnesses.
Crossbows can be owned legally by anyone over the age of 18 in the UK.
