Man in critical condition after Cambridgeshire crash which saw road closed

A man has been left in a 'critical' condition after a crash in Cambridgeshire on Saturday (November 16). Police are appealing for witnesses after the crash near Guyhirn.

A purple Ford Fiesta van was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Antara in Gull Road (B1187) at about 4.20pm. Emergency services attended and the road was closed.

A man in his 40s who was driving the van was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Vauxhall, a woman in her 40s, suffered minor injuries.

One person was cut out of their vehicle by firefighters. The road reopened the following morning after accident investigation work.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after a crash near Guyhirn on Saturday (16 November) left a man in a critical condition in hospital.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or believes they saw the vehicles in the build-up to it, should contact a member of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit online quoting incident 333 of 16 November. Alternatively call 101."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called at 4.23pm on Saturday 16 November to a road traffic collision on Gull Road in Guyhirn. Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, a critical care response car and a response car from Magpas Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"An adult man was transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital in a serious condition, while another patient was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and treatment."
