Man who died at Euston hotel was stabbed at nearby house party

A young man was stabbed in a row at a house party before staggering to a nearby hotel in a desperate bid to get help, witnesses said today.

The victim was attacked at an address in Starcross Street before he managed to walk a few hundred yards to the four-star £100-a-night Wesley Hotel, close to Euston Station, where he collapsed in a pool of blood in the lobby. Hotel staff and paramedics fought to save his life but the man died at the scene 45 minutes later.

A total of 11 people — four men and seven women aged between 19 and 28 — were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have all been released pending further investigations.

Today witnesses said the arrests were made at an address in Starcross Street after police followed a trail of blood back from the hotel. A neighbour said: “He was stabbed in the doorway and those arrested were inside. There was a lot of running and chasing round the streets.

“There have been a lot of party nights at that house and that’s where all the trouble flared. The police followed the blood trail from the hotel and then raided the house.”

Neighbour Cristina Calletan, 68, said: “We heard shouting and blue lights; there were boys outside. It was very frightening.”

Police were called to the hotel at 10.44pm on Monday to reports of a man who had been stabbed.

Earlier this month an 18-year-old man was rammed by a 4x4 car and stabbed multiple times, including in the head, in an attack in Drummond Street, one street away from the murder scene. The teenager suffered life-changing injuries after the attack early on February 5.
