Man died in Exeter after falling from city centre window
An inquest has opened into the death of a 42-year-old man who died in Exeter city centre after falling from height out of a window. Emergency services were called to Wheatleigh Court in Market Street on May 10, 2024, following a report of concerns for the welfare of a man.
A short hearing held recently at Exeter Coroner's Court confirmed the man who died at the scene was Paul Hocking, who was born in Exeter and lived at the property where his death occurred at around 3.15pm. He was said to be single and medically unemployed.
Senior coroner Philip Spinney said: "The circumstances of the death are this 42-year-old man was witnessed to fall from a window and was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. The medical cause of death is multiple injuries consistent with a fall from height."
The inquest was adjourned for a full hearing to be held on a yet to be confirmed date.
