Man dies after being hit by car on busy Paisley road
A man has tragically died following a horror road crash in Paisley. Emergency crews were alerted after two males, aged 40 and 50, were struck by a car last Wednesday morning.
The incident happened around 8.10am on the town's Hawkhead Road. Both men were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with ‘serious injuries’ but, sadly, the 50-year-old died yesterday.
No information is currently available regarding the condition of the other man at this stage. Police have confirmed that the driver of the car was uninjured.
The road was closed for around eight for enquiries to be carried out and Police Scotland continue to appeal for information and are asking the public for assistance.
Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this incident.
“Our investigation into the circumstances remain ongoing and we ask anyone who has any information, including dash-cam footage at the time of the incident, to contact police.
“Anyone with any information who has not spoken to officers should contact police via 101, quoting incident number 0695 of Wednesday, 18 September, 2024.”
An image from the scene showed police tape locking down the road after the incident. Three police vehicles could be spotted nearby with one ambulance also in attendance.
