Man dies after car crashes into hedge near golf club in Wishaw

A man has died after a car containing four passengers hit a hedge in Wishaw. All three emergency services were called to Bulls Lane, near to Wishaw Gold Club, at 11.10am on Tuesday (Jan 28), where they found the critically injured male.

He was given life support by the fire and then paramedics but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A teenage girl was taken to Good Hope Hospital for injuries not said to be serious.

Two other males did not receive treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered a car that had collided with a hedge, from which there were four occupants. One of them, a man, was found to be in a critical condition and was already receiving basic life support from fire service colleagues.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene. A teenage female was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Good Hope Hospital whilst two further men did not wish to be assessed.”

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene.
