Man dies in Cardiff recycling site incident as investigation launched

A man has died in an incident at a recycling site in Cardiff. Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man at the area of Cardiff on the afternoon of Monday, July 8.

Both South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their attendance. The fire service confirmed they were called at 12:44pm. It is understood emergency services were still on site at around 8pm.

The man involved in the incident was a contractor carrying out maintenance at the site. In a statement confirming the death, South Wales Police said: "Emergency services were called to a report of an injured man at the Atlantic Recycling site in Cardiff, this afternoon (Monday, July 8).

"South Wales Police can confirm the man has died and his family has been informed. The Health and Safety Executive has also been informed and an investigation into the incident is ongoing."

A spokesperson from Dauson Environmental Group said: "Dauson Environmental Group can confirm an incident occurred on Monday 8th July 2024 involving a contractor carrying out maintenance at the Atlantic Recycling site in Cardiff.
