A man has died after apparently falling from a Christmas tree in Kircaldy, Fife.

Revellers leaving a nearby nightclub raised the alarm in the early hours of this morning (Friday) after spotting the unnamed man outside Kircaldy Town House.

Emergency services were called and paramedics tried to save the unresponsive man, who was believed to be in his 50s.

He was taken to Victoria Hospital but later died.

Police have cordoned off the 12ft fir tree outside the Town House and officers remain at the scene.

A sizeable branch had snapped off the tree, and was found on the ground by its base.

The town’s MP, Lesley Laird, told Fife Today: “This is tragic news, especially at Christmas, and my thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this time.”
