Police have confirmed that a man has died following a fire at a Bristol city centre hotel. The blaze was first reported to the emergency services at around 7.45pm on Friday, and a cordon put in place as people crowded outside the building.

Multiple fire crews and ambulances were called to the Radisson Blu hotel in Broad Quay on Friday evening (September 6). Avon and Somerset Police have today (Monday) confirmed that the fire broke out within a room at the hotel - and that one person has died.

A force spokesperson said: "Sadly, a man has died following a fire within a hotel room, in Broad Quay, on Friday evening (6 September). Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a file for a coroner."
