Man dies in Glasgow city centre as police probe launched into 'unexplained' death

A man has died after being found seriously injured in the city centre on Friday night.

Emergency services rushed to the William Street area at around 11.50pm, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The nature of how he came by his injuries remains unclear.

Police say that there do not appear to be any 'suspicious' circumstances but have launched a probe into the "unexplained" death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police received a report of a man having been found seriously injured in the William Street area of Glasgow around 11.50pm on Friday, May 24.

"Emergency services attended, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
