Man dies after incident in Newton Abbot
A man has died after a suspected medical emergency in Newton Abbot this morning, Friday, January 31. Emergency services, including the Devon Air Ambulance, were called to the scene in the Brunel Road area of Newton Abbot at around 10.10am.
Paramedics and police officers also attended the incident. However, a man in his 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The man's next of kin has been informed. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has said: "We were called by ambulance service with a report that a man had suffered a suspected episode in the Brunel Road area of Newton Abbot at around 10.10am on Friday 31 January.
"Paramedics and the air ambulance also attended the incident. Sadly the man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 09:19hrs on Friday 31 January to an incident in Newton Abbot.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a critical care car and an operations officer to the scene.”
