Man discovers he's a dad after seeing baby abandoned on CCTV
A Brazilian man has discovered he is a father after seeing CCTV footage of his ex-girlfriend abandoning their baby.
The grainy footage, which was publicly released by police, shows a woman laying a naked newborn baby under a lamppost in Paraiba, in Brazil’s northeast.
Moises Pereira Teixera instantly recognised the woman as his former girlfriend and reported her to police.
The mother had allegedly hidden her pregnancy and secretly given birth in a toilet.
“Discovering my baby boy who I didn't even know existed – was such an emotional thing,” he told local media.
Police had reportedly named the baby Moises, in reference to the bible story.
“Knowing that by sheer coincidence he had been given my name was an ever greater emotion.”

In a bizarre twist, the baby was discovered on the footpath by the mother’s father, who claims he had no idea he was saving his own grandson.
He too only realized his connection to the newborn after recognizing his daughter and himself in the CCTV footage.
Mr. Teixera is plans to appeal for full custody of his son. Police are considering prosecuting the mother.
