A MAN faces a bill of more than £480 after dodging a train fare between Bradford and Blackpool.

Janazu Donniak, 37, of Station Road, Blackpool, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.

He travelled between Bradford Interchange and Blackpool North without paying the £22.80 fare.

During this journey, on August 19, 2022, he was asked by the conductor to produce a valid ticket and could not. He could then not pay for the journey he was making.

He was issued with an Unpaid Fares Notice to pay the fare within 21 days. He did not pay within the time limit, and two subsequent letters were sent to him, without a payment being made.

Donniak was fined £220, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £88 victim surcharge and £22.80 compensation for the offence, which totalled £480.80.

Donniak was sentenced in his absence at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court on January 9, 2023.
