A man who received a three-year prison sentence now faces deportation from the UK. Fars Mtawea, 46, of St Marys Road, London, was sentenced to 36 months at Worcester Crown Court last Thursday (September 26) after being found guilty of making threats to kill in a domestic abuse case.

Mtawea was also issued a restraining order against his victim, who suffered abuse in Evesham, prohibiting him from making any direct or indirect contact. As a foreign national with a sentence exceeding 12 months, he is eligible for automatic deportation to his native country, Syria.

West Mercia Police Detective Inspector Marie Green, of the Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) team, said: "We are pleased to get this result against Mtawea who made appalling threats to kill against his victim. The courage of the victim coming forward and hard work by DC Lucy Edwards and the PVP team has led to this great result.
