Man Faces Jail After Hurling Dog To Its Death From Seventh Floor Window

A former security guard is facing jail time after brutally hurling a dog to its death from a seventh floor tower block.

Mahmoud Keshavarzi dragged the dog from a garden into the high-rise in Birmingham, West Midlands, before hurling the animal to its death.

The dog was an American bulldog cross called Zeus - and his owner Mitchel Jagger only discovered the theft after he was told by a 13-year-old boy who had seen the animal being dragged away.

He then rushed to confront Keshavarzi and secure the dog’s safe return, but the the 37-year-old thug ignored his plea and threw the animal from his seven floor window.

Keshavarzi has now been found guilty of theft and criminal damage following a trial at Birmingham Magistrates Court.

The court heard how the horror initially unfolded at around 4.30pm on August 29 last year, after a teenage boy saw Keshavarzi steal Zeus from a garden and drag the pup by his collar towards the rear entrance of Drews House, in Druids Heath, Birmingham.

The boy rang police but they were unable to find Zeus.

When Mitchel returned from work at around 7.30pm, the young boy told him about the theft - and he desperately began knocking doors trying to find his beloved mutt.

When he finally got to Keshavarzi’s flat, he spotted dog hair on the mat outside.

The 13-year-old boy told the court that he had been outside and had heard Mitchel calling for Zeus and the dog barking.

He said: ‘I heard a massive thump. It sounded like two cars going into each other.

‘I looked on the ground and Zeus was lying there. I then heard the sound of a squeaking window.’

Dad-of-four Mitchel has been left devastated by the horrific death of his beloved family pet - and his children have been left traumatised.

Mitchel, 29, said: ‘Zeus was a joint birthday present for me and my eldest daughter, Morgan, 11, when she turned nine.

'All the kids loved him, they absolutely doted on him - they were devastated when he died, and it hit Morgan especially hard.

'They know exactly what happened - luckily they were at their nans when it happened so they weren’t there to see it.

'I couldn’t look at Zeus - I couldn’t bear to look at him in that state.

'I was devastated - that dog was my best friend and I wasn’t emotionally prepared for it.’

Sentencing has been adjourned until August 1 for reports to be prepared - but the defendant was told he could be facing a jail sentence.
