Father fractured young child’s skull, caused brain bleed during abuse, DA says

PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Brundidge father is behind bars after police say he abused his child.

On the afternoon of Thursday, January 25, investigators with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Mykhail Lane and charged him with one count of aggravated child abuse.

According to Pike County District Attorney James Tarbox, Lane was the child’s father, and the mother, who has yet to be publically identified, was also arrested and charged in the investigation.

A public arrest warrant revealed that Lane beat his six-year-old child, causing a skull fracture and bleeding in the brain. The alleged crime occurred on Tuesday, January 16.

A release from the Brundidge Police Department states the unidentified child is in good condition and safe.

Brundige Police Chief Sam Green says Lane was arrested after his department and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into possible child abuse in Brundidge during the week of January 15.

The investigation is still ongoing.
