Man fighting for his life after broad daylight stabbing in Woolwich

A MAN is fighting for his life after a stabbing in Woolwich.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Brookhill Road just before 5.40pm today– but couldn’t find a victim when they arrived.

At around 5.50pm, a man with stab wounds was dropped off in a car at a hospital in south London.

It is believed that the incidents were linked and the man taken to hospital was stabbed in Brookhill Road.

His condition has been assessed as life threatening.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 101 and quote reference 5568/29SEP.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A section 60 order has been authorised in the Woolwich area until 9.10am tomorrow.

This means police can stop and search anyone in the area during this time.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “At 5.37pm on Wednesday, 28 September police were called to Brookhill Road, SE18 following reports of a stabbing.

“Officers attended and a crime scene was started but a victim could not be located.

“A short time later, at around 5.50pm, a male was dropped off by car at a south London hospital with stab wounds.

“He is in a life threatening condition.

“It is believed the male, who has yet to be identified, likely sustained his injuries in the incident in Brookhill Road.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, giving the reference 5568/29SEP.

“Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

“A Section 60 order, providing officers with additional search powers, has been put in place in the Woolwich area until 9.10pm on Thursday.”
