Man fined £666 over Henry vacuum dumped in Balsall Heath
A man has been fined £666 over rubbish that was illegally dumped underneath some bushes. The items, which included a Henry vacuum, black bags and paperwork, were found at Arter Street in Balsall Heath in October 2022.
Maged Ghalib had hired the vehicle involved in the incident and failed to identify the driver when asked by Birmingham City Council. The 30-year-old from Ombersley Road in Sparkbrook was hit with a £400 fixed penalty notice which he did not pay.
He subsequently admitted an offence of fly-tipping and failing to comply with a statutory notice. At Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 19 he was fined £666 and ordered to pay a further £1,522.95 in costs.

Councillor Majid Mahmood, cabinet member for the environment, said: "Fly-tippers have no care for the environment or people’s neighbourhoods and for the distress their behaviour causes.
"We are determined to tackle those who ruin our shared environment and won’t hesitate to take this tough approach and prosecute when we have evidence. Well done to everyone involved in this case."
