Man gives a woman a ride to a petrol station - Three years later, she more than repays the favour

A Georgia couple learned the true meaning of “what goes around, comes around” in a touching coincidence after their family member was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

While Chris and Carmen Wright were grappling with the diagnosis of Chris’s mother, Judy, they found a bright spot in one of her caregivers: TunDe Hector. Ms Hector, the family said, “exudes joy and lives every breath to serve people”.

"She cared for [Judy] in the most respectful way. She had the utmost respect for human life," Ms Wright told CBS.

When the elder Ms Wright eventually passed away, Ms Hector rushed to be with the family, leaving her own birthday celebration to be by their sides. Together, the family and caregiver laughed, cried, and celebrated the life of the woman they both considered family.

“TunDe provided gentle love and kindness to Judy, sweet words of prayer when we needed them most, and a connection that only Divine Intervention could orchestrate,” the family wrote on their fundraising page. “We quickly realised that she was our guardian angel.”

The family also realised something else: They had met Ms Hector before.

Three years earlier, before the elder Ms Wright fell ill, Ms Hector had found herself stranded on a roadside when her car ran out of gas. She was walking to the gas station in the rain, with only $5 in her pocket, when a stranger stopped to pick her up.

That stranger was Chris Wright.

"You know when you have an urge and a desire something to do good?" Ms Wright told CBS News. "He was raised that way. He's kind and generous to everyone. He'd never picked up anybody before, but he felt compelled."

The couple was on their way to church when Mr Wright spotted Ms Hector on the roadside. He quickly dropped off his wife and circled back to give Ms Hector a ride, as well as all of the cash in his wallet.

It was only after several of Ms Hector’s caregiving shifts this year that the two strangers recognised each other.

Now, the Wright family hopes to repay Ms Hector for her hard work by helping her pay for nursing school. The family started a YouCaring page in her honour, asking for donations to her education fund in lieu of flowers for the elder Ms Wright.

The page has now raised more than $25,000.

Presented with a check recently, Ms Hector burst into tears.

“I don’t know what to say!” she exclaimed.

“You don’t need to say anything,” Ms Wright replied. “We love you and we believe in you. You’ve got a gift, girl.”
