Woman's Dismembered Body Found In Flat

Detectives say a woman's body found at a flat in South Wales was dismembered.

Tracey Woodford, from the Pontypridd area, was last seen by her family at about 12.45pm on Tuesday and was reported missing the following day.

The 47-year-old left the Skinny Dog Public House in Pontypridd with a man on Tuesday night.

A police officer searching a flat in Andrews Court, Rickards Street, Graig, discovered her body just before 3pm on Friday.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Officers have been given a further 36 hours to question him.

A spokesman for South Wales Police described the incident as "serious and traumatic".

Ms Woodford's relatives are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detective superintendent Paul Hurley said: "No matter how insignificant the information may seem, we would like people to contact us.

"In particular, we want to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the vicinity of Andrews Court, Rickards Street, where the body was found, and also to anyone who may have seen something suspicious near the rugby ground on Sardis Road in the past couple of days.

"We have a team of detectives and the support of specialist resources working on this inquiry and while we understand it will alarm the community, this is an isolated incident and we do have somebody in custody."

Local resident Mike Lent told Sky News the death was a "shock".

"You hear of it happening in different parts of the country, but when it happens on your doorstep you don't expect it. It's just numbing really when you think what has happened."

He said there had been a lot of police activity in the area

"You very rarely see a police car around here so it's unusual," he added.
