Man injured after forklift incident at Unilever factory
A man was injured in an incident with a forklift on a loading bay platform at Unilever factory. The company, which has a factory on Wood Street in Port Sunlight, confirmed an incident took place inside the Merseyside branch earlier this week.
When approached by the ECHO the company confirmed there had been an incident where an employee was injured but it is understood he has been able to continue working within the factory. A Unilever spokesperson said: “We can confirm that earlier this week there was an incident in our Port Sunlight factory involving an employee using a forklift on a loading bay platform.
“We are pleased to confirm that the employee has received the appropriate care and advice, and has been able to continue to work, and we will of course continue to liaise closely with him.

“Safety of our employees is our number one priority and at the forefront of all our activities at Port Sunlight. We have instigated a full investigation, and our processes are being thoroughly reviewed and action taken to ensure we apply all the learnings from this incident.”
Unilever is responsible for making 400 brands around the world, with its largest factories being homed in the UK. Brands include Cornetto, Pot Noodle and Persil, and the company has products sold in 190 countries, serving 4.4 million retail stores.
