Man injured after late-night vicious street attack

A man was walking through a Cornwall town when two men assaulted him, police say. The victim, a man in his 30s from Newquay, suffered a facial injury following the incident in Newquay.

Police were called around 1am on Saturday, April 27, to Tor Road in Newquay after reports that a man was attacked. Two men reportedly assaulted the victim, leaving him with a facial injury.

It is not clear if the attackers were known to the victim. One of the suspects was wearing a light coloured hooded top and the second was wearing a dark coloured top.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses of the attack to come forward. Anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell camera footage of the area is asked to call 101 quoting crime reference 50240100703 .

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The man was walking on Tor Road around 1am on Saturday 27 April when he was assaulted by two men. The victim, in his 30s and from Newquay, sustained a facial injury during the incident.

"One of the suspects was wearing a light-coloured hooded top and the second was dressed in a dark coloured top.

"Police are investigating and asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them. They would also like to hear from anyone with CCTV or doorbell cameras covering the area or anyone who may have captured the incident on dashcam.

"Please contact police online or telephone 101, quoting crime reference 50240100703."
