Man Jailed After Snatching Handbag in Gravesend High Street

A man who hid in an alleyway in Gravesend before stealing a woman’s handbag has been jailed, with Kent Police releasing footage of the theft on November 24.

Concealing his face with a balaclava, Jaroslav Gabor, 23, waited in an alley until the woman walked past on February 17, police said.

He then cycled towards her from behind and snatched her handbag. The victim, aged in her 60s, fell to the ground as Gabor sped away. The incident was caught on CCTV.

Gabor used one of the victim’s bank cards in a nearby shop to buy alcohol and cigarettes, Kent Police said.

Gabor was identified as being the offender and was arrested two days after the offence, still in possession of the woman’s phone. At Maidstone Crown Court on November 22, he admitted robbery and fraud, and was jailed for three years and nine months. Credit: Kent Police via Storyful
