Man left 'extremely distressed' after Leicester bus station assault

A man was pushed over and had his walking stick taken during a Leicester city centre assault. The victim is said to been left "extremely distressed" by the incident.

The victim, a man aged 60, was outside Leicester's Haymarket Bus Station when he was approached by a woman who pushed him over. The man's walking stick had been taken moments before the push occurred.

Police said the assault happened at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, October 29. The victim was not injured but was left "extremely distressed" by what happened according to officers.

Investigations into the assault are ongoing, with police appealing for witnesses to come forward. In their appeal issued today (Tuesday, November 12), Leicestershire Police said the suspect is described as a white woman who was wearing a cream coat and white sliders at the time of the assault. Officers added that she was also carrying a large light blue bag for life.

A force spokesperson said: "There were a number of people outside the bus station around the time of the incident and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or captured any footage on their mobile phones."
