Man left with injuries to face, neck and chest after assault with 'bladed article' near Manors Metro station

A man was taken to hospital after a serious assault near a Metro station left him with injuries to his face, neck and chest.

At 11.45pm on Wednesday October 23 a man in his 30s was walking with his friends in New Bridge Street, close to Manors Metro Station, when he was approached by an man unknown to the group. The unknown man then assaulted the victim with a bladed article, leaving him with injuries to his face, neck and chest.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and later discharged. Northumbria Police has launched a full investigation into the incident.
