Man-made beach returns to Touchwood Solihull in time for 'very warm' summer

A popular man-made beach will make its return to the Midlands just as a "very warm" UK summer has been predicted. Costa Del Solihull will be stationed in the courtyard of Solihull town centre's Touchwood shopping centre for more than a month with a full programme of free activities and entertainment.

The sandy escape is a much-loved free activity for families in the land-locked West Midlands and tourism bosses have promised that "everyone will be entertained." The timing could not be better, as British Weather Services expert Jim Dale predicts a “warm to very to very warm summer" for the UK.

Families can enjoy party games and competitions, sandcastle building and face painting at the beach, which will be open for the duration of the school holidays. There will even be deck chairs for parents to relax and watch their children have fun.

Announcing the dates of this year's Costa Del Solihull, Visit Solihull confirmed the beach's grand opening event will be 'Hey Duggee' themed, where children will have a chance to meet the lovable children's character.

The opening of the beach at Touchwood will be highly anticipated, as it is a fun and budget-friendly day-out for local families. It often operates alongside a whole host of family activities happening at the centre too as part of Touchwood's summer programme.

Costa Del Solihull will run from July 20 to August 31 and will be open daily. Visit Solihull said: "From July 20 to August 31, enjoy Touchwood's beloved beach, open daily for the school holidays.

"Meet Duggee from 'Hey Duggee' at the grand opening, with face painting, a DJ, and family-friendly fun. Craft workshops and activities will keep everyone entertained all summer long. Relax in a deck chair and enjoy family days out in Solihull."
