Man and his pet dog sprayed with bleach by hooded thugs who stole £50 watch

A man walking his pet dog was targeted by a group of thugs who sprayed bleach onto both him and his pet so they could steal a £50 watch.

The 34-year-old victim, from Tamworth, Staffordshire, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, where his injuries were described as not life-altering.

Police said the man was walking on Tamworth’s Silver Link Road, at the junction of Collett, on Sunday morning when three men in black hooded tops approached him.

After liquid was sprayed at the dog and his owner, the gang made off with a watch worth £50.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: ‘One of the men sprayed liquid at the victim’s dog and then in his face.

‘The men stole his watch, worth £50 and ran off towards the grassed area on the same road.’

The dog is being treated at the RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre and Hospital.
