Man pulled from Glasgow canal and rushed to hospital as police close towpath

A man was rushed to hospital after being pulled from a Glasgow canal.

Police closed the towpath on the Forth and Clyde Canal between Applecross Street and Spiers Wharf after being called to reports that a man was in the water around 7.30pm on Thursday (November 14).

Police closed the footbridge at the Applecross Basin, according to a witness. Images from the scene show the bridge and surrounding area taped-off by police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.30pm on Thursday, November 14, to a report of a person in the water in the Dawson Road area of Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
