A driver kitted out a Mercedes hire car with blue lights and sirens - but he wasn't a police officer.

Merseyside Police's roads policing unit regularly shares examples of bad driving and dodgy practices on our roads. Today they posted to X, formerly Twitter, about a driver they had stopped in Liverpool.

Their tweet read: "The driver of this hire car had installed his own lights & sirens and thought he could go #racing around the city! He was captured driving dangerously on CCTV & when stopped he tested positive for #Cocaine. He was arrested for drug drive, dangerous driving and remains in custody."

It was the account's second update of the day, as earlier they shared details of a Mercedes-AMG which had been clocked at 140mph, with the driver then testing positive for cannabis.

Police said a few hours after his release he was stopped again and this time tested positive not only for cannabis, but cocaine too.
