Man ‘robbed at gunpoint by teenage gang’ on Clapton street
Five people have been charged after a man was robbed at gunpoint on a residential street in east London.
Police said the victim had been sitting on the corner of Norcott Road and Brooke Road in Clapton when he was approached by a gang of youths just before 8pm on Sunday.
The group threatened the victim with a gun and then stole his valuables, police said.
All five members of the gang were later traced and detained by armed officers. Police did not confirm their exact ages.
An imitation firearm, a knife, and the stolen property were recovered.
A Met spokesperson said: “Detectives from the Central East Robbery team have worked tirelessly through the night to obtain and secure further evidence and interview the suspects, before referring the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service.
"All five males have this morning been charged with robbery. Two of the males were also charged with possession of imitation firearm, possession cannabis and handling stolen goods.”
All five members of the group have been remanded in custody until the case is heard at Stratford Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
