A man suffered 'potentially life-changing injuries' after being hit by a car in Walsall. The pedestrian was rushed to hospital following the incident at the junction of Upper Rushall Street and Ablewell Street.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.20am on Tuesday, November 26. Photos shared on social media showed a stretch of the road had been closed, with a police cordon in place.

Medics treated the injured man before taking him to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Upper Rushall Street and Ablewell Street in Walsall at 8.20am. An ambulance and the trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a car and a pedestrian had been involved in a collision.

"The pedestrian, a man, was treated by medics for potentially life changing injuries and conveyed on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Upper Rushall Street at around 8.25am. A man has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries."
