Man rushed to hospital after home goes up in flames overnight
A man has been taken to hospital after his home was engulfed in flames during the early hours of the morning.
At 1.18am this morning, fire crews from Bentham, Skipton and Hornby, along with an aerial ladder platform from Harrogate, were called to a fire in Austwick, North Yorkshire. Fire crews were informed that it was not possible to confirm if the residents had left.
When they arrived, they managed to confirm the residents were safe but the fire was intense and had engulfed a garage, before spreading through the roof and to the house. They managed to put the fire out overnight and the home owner was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Bentham Fire Station said: "We were called to a report of a roof fire in the Austwick area along with Skipton Fire Station, Hornby Fire Station and an ALP from Harrogate Fire Station. Whilst enroute we were informed it hadn't been possible to confirm if the occupier was out. So the incident was upgraded to persons reported.
"Thankfully on arrival it was confirmed they were safe and sound. Unfortunately we were met with an intense fire which had engulfed the garage, through the roof and spread to the house. We used 7 BA, 2 x 45mm Jets, 3 Hose reel Jets, roof ladder, thermal imaging cameras, lighting and small tools to extinguish the fire.
"The home owner was taken to hospital for precautionary checks. We returned to Station around 5:30."
