Man who 'said he wanted to catch up with Taylor Swift' arrested near star's home 'with baseball bat and 30 lock picks'

A man who allegedly said he wanted to "catch up with Taylor Swift" has been arrested close to the star's home in Rhode Island.

David Page Liddle, 32, was apprehended on Friday in the town of Westerly after residents reported spotting a suspicious man.

Police allege that Liddle was transporting a backpack with a baseball bat sticking out of it at the time.

A search of Liddle's backpack later revealed several suspected burglary tools, including, according to authorities, more than 30 lock picks, a crowbar, screwdrivers, rubber gloves and a flashlight.

The suspect allegedly told authorities he wanted to "catch up with Taylor Swift", who owns a house in the area, so that she could help him with his singing career, The Westerly Sun reported. Chief Shawn Lacey of the Westerly Police Department confirmed the events reported by the Sun to The Independent.

A security guard reportedly told police he had seen Liddle walk by Swift's home earlier in the day.

Liddle, of Des Moines, Iowa, has been charged with possession of burglary tools and possession of a prohibited weapon other than a firearm.

Jail records indicate that Liddle remains in custody under a $10,000 bond.
