Man seriously injured after armed street brawl

A man was taken to hospital after a 'serious assault' on a residential street.

Emergency services were called to Kilburn Street in Litherland at around 5.30pm this evening, June 4, after reports four men armed with weapons were fighting in the street.

Two of the men reportedly fled the scene in a black car and a third man fled the scene in a blue car.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head and leg. When the ECHO arrived in Litherland at around 6.30pm, a partial cordon was in place on Kilburn Street.

There were several police vehicles present, including a Matrix van, as well as two ambulances. The injured man was taken away in an ambulance at around 6.45pm.

Police remain at the scene to carry out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries and also provide reassurance to the community.

Chief Inspector Chris Bland of Merseyside Police said: “We are keen to speak with anyone locally who saw this incident or may have captured anything on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices. This was a nasty incident that has left a man in hospital and we are determined to find the people responsible, so come forward and we will take action."
