Man seriously injured in broad daylight street fight in Newcastle

A broad daylight street fight has left one man seriously injured. Police say they received a report that two men were fighting in Heaton Park Road, in Heaton, Newcastle, on Friday afternoon.

When emergency services arrived they found a man in his 30s had suffered serious injuries. Police say the second man fled the scene.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened close to the junction with Bollingbrooke Street.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 1.35pm on Friday we received a report of a disturbance on Heaton Park Road in the Heaton area of Newcastle. It was reported that two men were fighting on the street. Emergency services attended the scene, and a male aged in his 30s was found to have sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries. The other male fled the scene on foot.

"Enquiries remain ongoing, and anyone with information should call Northumbria Police."
