A man who snuck out of his nursing home in Mexico to go drinking has stumbled home after an epic two-month bender - much to the shock of his family who thought they’d cremated him.

Miguel Angel Gomar De Luna, a 74-year-old grandfather, managed to escape his nursing home in Chihuahua, Mexico to go out on the lash.

He was declared missing when he failed to return, and his family put up missing person posters and a police report was filed.

So when police found a decomposing body that matched his description his daughter, under time pressure from the authorities, agreed it was De Luna and had him cremated.

Little did they know, De Luna was actually sleeping rough and begging for money to carry on drinking. And he was eventually picked up by police and returned home.

In a video of the strange reunion, the grandfather explained, “They thought I was dead, but I just walk and walk.”

Daughter Lucero Gomar Ramos said, “Imagine our surprise when we spoke to police who told us that they had located him on the street, we could not believe it. We thought he was gone.”
