Man Shocks Girlfriend with Surprise Proposal at Marathon Finish Line: 'He Chose the Best Moment' (Exclusive)
"My heart was exploding with joy. It was an unforgettable day!" Lisa Migliorini tells PEOPLE
Lisa Migliorini had a special surprise waiting for her as she crossed the New York City Marathon finish line on Nov. 5: her boyfriend Fabio Cerutti down on one knee.
"It was unbelievable! He chose the best moment to propose!" Migliorini, who traveled from Italy for the race tells PEOPLE. She adds that after her fiancé got down on one knee, all the runners around them started to clap and cheer.
"I had just crossed the finish line and I was super tired but full of joy! My mind wasn’t completely on earth…I was a marathoner! Then I saw Fabio, I was so happy to see him. We hugged and he congratulated me, asking if I was okay," she says.
She continues: "Then he told me that we were about to do a photo together. I prepared with a thumbs up, but then I saw him taking something out from his pocket and going on his knees. When he opened the box I realized [what was happening]. I started laughing, and I said 'Yes' and kissed him. My heart was exploding with joy. It was an unforgettable day!"
In a TikTok video of the proposal, Cerutti pulled out a blue ring box as Migliorini stood beside him catching her breathe.
AS soon as Migliorini realized what was happening, her face instantly lit up. She clasped her hands together and started to nod before she shared a kiss with her future husband.
"I SAID YES 💍❤️ FOREVER 'Yes, I marry you' to the man of my life after having finished the New York City Marathon 😭 Best day of my life!" she captioned the aforementioned video.

"It was the first marathon of my life and we were both super excited," she says. "The days before we studied the track and the subway and he managed to come to Brooklyn and in the 1st avenue to see me and cheer for me. It was amazing!"
Looking ahead, Migliorini is excited to start organizing the wedding. "I know we are going to be both really emotional," she says. "I’m also looking forward to choosing my wedding dress."
