People have been left unimpressed after seeing a fry up for the price of £25.

Stephen R Power took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a photo of a fry up he bought at a Sofitel hotel for £25. The meal was made up of sausages, hash browns, bacon, tomato and beans and some unusual additions - sliced bread and raw mixed peppers.

A classic British fry up is made up of sausages, bacon, hash browns, eggs, beans, black pudding, mushrooms and a slice of toast or two. Stephen’s somewhat untraditional version caught the attention of many as the post has got 1.7million views.

In the caption of his post, he asked: “Tell me what’s wrong with this fry up that cost £25?” And X users were quick to give their answers.

One person listed five things: “The price, the peppers, no eggs, no mushrooms, no black pudding.” A second said: “The beans are touching everything! Biggest sin of all.”

A third added: “No eggs. No mushrooms. Peppers? AND £25? What’s right with this fry up?” Another user gave a concise answer to Stephen’s question as they commented: “The price for a start and the food second."

Several people agreed the price is the downfall of the meal and the peppers, as well as the “missing main ingredients”. In the comment section of the post some X users shared photos of fry ups they had bought for much lower prices, including one person who said they bought a fry up for £5 that came with two sausages, bacon, two hash browns, a fried egg, beans, mushrooms and two slices of buttered toast.

Dan Barker posted a photo of a fry up at Billingsgate Cafe in London that included scallops, which X users were surprised by. They questioned the inclusion of scallops in a fry up.

Meanwhile, another person commented on Stephen's post, remembering a time they stayed at the Shard 10 years ago that charged "£35 for a full English.” The user added: “Went out to Borough Market and got one for £6. Plus a mug of tea and toast.”

There are multiple variations of fry ups across the UK, including the full English, full Irish, full Scottish and full Welsh. The full Irish is made up of bacon, sausages, baked beans, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and sometimes bubble and squeak.

Over in Scotland, the traditional fry up includes potato scones, haggis and oatcakes and the Welsh fry up has laverbread or laver cakes. The possibilities are endless!
